Sunderland sacked head coach as ex-Rangers boss loses second job

Sunderland sacked Michael Beale.

According to Sky Sports, the 43-year-old has lost his second job this season, following his dismissal from Rangers.

The Londoner was fired by the Ibrox club in early October after a poor start to the season that saw Celtic surge to a seven-point lead at the top of the Premiership table.

He was out of employment for a few months when Sunderland called.

On December 18, the Championship side formally hired Beale as their new head coach. He signed a two-and-a-half year contract.

However, after only three months and 12 games in charge, the Black Cats have fired Beale.

He leaves Sunderland in tenth place, with their play-off chances diminishing.

Philippe Clement has improved Rangers’ fortunes since succeeding Beale.

Rangers are now top of the Premiership table following a dramatic weekend of action in Scotland’s top division, which saw Celtic surrender another domestic point, this time at home to Kilmarnock.

He won his first title in December, defeating Aberdeen 1-0 in the Viaplay Cup final, and his team won their Europa League group, ensuring automatic qualification for the competition’s last-16.
