Nottingham Forest news as the Reds realized the outcome of their FFP charge

Reports have surfaced regarding what Nuno Espirito Santo told his Nottingham Forest players after the club was penalized with violating Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

The Reds and Everton were charged in January of allegedly violating PSR. The Toffees were also accused in November last year for an alleged breach of Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, which resulted in an automatic 10-point deduction, which they have appealed, with a verdict expected in the coming weeks.

Forest will hear the verdict of their challenge by May 24, at the latest, five days after the end of the 2023/24 Premier League season. The Reds hired top sports lawyer Nick De Marco, a KC at Blackstone Chambers in London, to handle the issue.

And the Daily Telegraph has reported on what Nuno first told the Forest players when the accusation was made in January. Nuno reportedly assembled the Reds squad in a meeting room and instructed them to ‘try to block out the uncertainty’. They add that he also said they ‘could only focus on their jobs on the pitch and train properly.’

Forest has won three of its eight games since the FFP charge was issued on January 15. The club’s sole triumphs since the announcement have been FA Cup replays against Blackpool and Bristol City, as well as a 2-0 league win against West Ham on Saturday.

Nuno told the reporters when the allegation was announced: “We are all concerned at the club, but as a coach, there is nothing I have to care about or deal with. My job is clear: to prepare the team, and that is what we are focusing on.

“Today we will train and we know the players know the situation, but I’ll tell them the same as I’m telling you, let’s forget about this and focus on our job.”
