The Cleveland Browns have their safety under contract as he collapsed of heart illness but still yet to know the outcome of the damage

BEREA, OH — The Greetham Angle will do a position-by-position breakdown and analysis of the roster beginning in 2023 and continuing through 2024. This offseason, the Cleveland Browns will have to make painful decisions across their roster.

Over the following three weeks, we’ll look at the roster by position, players who are still under contract, and those who are about to become free agents. We will now look at the safety position.

Safeties
After rebuilding their safety situation in the summer of 2023, the Browns had four of their top five safeties under contract in 2024. Grant Delpit signed a long-term extension near the end of the 2023 season. Juan Thornhill was signed as a crucial unrestricted free agent in 2023 on a three-year contract, but he had a disappointing first season with the Browns.

Ronnie Hickman, an undrafted rookie free agent, and D’Anthony Bell, a second-year safety, both demonstrated potential when given the opportunity to play in the second part of the season due to injuries at the position.

Rodney McLeod, a veteran and one-year free agent, was familiar with Jim Schwartz’s defense. McLeod was the rotation’s third safety and a major special teams player until he was sidelined for the season due to a torn biceps. Duron Harmon, a veteran, was signed following McLeod’s injury and played well late in the season.
