There’s no shying-away from the task that sits directly ahead of us Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Röhl as he defined the season

The Owls face midtable Bristol City to Hillsborough this afternoon, seeking to build on their previous three games’ six points from a potential nine. The Robins come off a disheartening setback to Wednesday’s fellow drop zone occupants QPR last weekend, but they are fresh off a wild 3-1 victory over promotion-chasing Southampton last midweek.

The encounter is the first of three that Wednesday sees as winnable, with a trip to bottom-of-the-table South Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United next up before hosting a Plymouth Argyle team in inconsistent form. While not predicting the Robins match, Röhl stated that the Millers’ close proximity presents an opportunity because travel days will be removed from the titanic triple-header.

“I will not say that the next three games are home games of course, but they are all in this area which is very helpful,” Röhl went on to explain. “I hope we can go together. When I witnessed the large crowds after the Millwall game and how my players celebrated the victory, it showed a lot of emotion, and hopefully we can bring that emotion back to the stadium on Saturday, beginning with the kick-off.

“We must generate something on the pitch to transfer energy to the supporters, and the fans can return that energy to the pitch; this is a transfer from both sides, in both directions, and we can keep each other going to get the next outcome. Everyone understands the next three games are crucial for us.”
