The Washington Commanders have made a big decision regarding the quarterback position this offseason

This offseason, the Washington Commanders will have to make some important decisions at quarterback. Fortunately for them, if they decide to take a different approach, they could get a good price for one of their existing quarterbacks.

The Commanders are likely to select a quarterback with the No. 2 overall pick, perhaps making Sam Howell expendable. According to Ralph Vacchiano of FOX Sports, Howell would be in high demand on the trade market, and the Commanders could potentially acquire a third-round pick if they moved him around the draft.

Howell was a fifth-round pick by the Commanders two years ago. It would be an obvious win for the organization if they could get him a third now.

The former North Carolina quarterback showed promise, particularly early in the 2023 season, yet still managed 3,946 passing yards and 21 touchdowns. He also threw the most interceptions in the league, and the team appeared to be turning against him at the end of the season. The potential to draft a quarterback like Drake Maye may be too appealing to pass up, especially if they can obtain a good trade value for Howell.
