Tottenham Hotspur forward is ‘taking a big interest’ in Sheffield Wednesday due to a family connection according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Tottenham Hotspur attacker Timo Werner is ‘taking a big interest’ the fortunes of Sheffield Wednesday due to a family connection, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Werner joined Tottenham from RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga during the winter transfer window on an initial loan basis.

Tottenham have an option to buy set at €20 million, and Werner will be attempting to persuade them to take it.

The German now has a family company in England, with his father-in-law, Sascha Lense, joining Sheffield Wednesday’s backroom team.

As a result, Werner is becoming increasingly interested in the Owls’ fate.

Danny Rohl’s men are currently fighting to avoid relegation from the Championship.

The Owls have won three of their previous four Championship games, giving them a chance to move out of the relegation zone.

Lense is the performance manager at Sheffield Wednesday, having previously worked for Dynamo Dresden, Schalke, RB Leipzig, and Manchester United.
