Chelsea’s forgotten wonderkid sends Mauricio Pochettino message and puts two stars at risk

Omari Hutchinson is demonstrating to Mauricio Pochettino that he has the ability to make an impact in Chelsea’s first team. The youngster’s impressive recent performances on loan at Ipswich Town have propelled him into the spotlight, and a return to Stamford Bridge may push two Blues players down the pecking order.

Hutchinson has only two senior appearances before joining the Tractor Boys on loan last summer. The Redhill native was a standout youth player at Arsenal, but his departure to west London was overshadowed by a slew of fresh and exciting recruits brought in by co-owner Todd Boehly.

The 20-year-old is now ensuring his place in Pochettino’s plans following an impressive run in the second division. Hutchinson has scored three goals and two assists in his past five outings, averaging a goal per 48 minutes.

The teenager, who can play out wide or in attacking midfield, has earned his way into the squad under boss Kieran McKenna this season.

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, several abroad clubs are keeping an eye on Hutchinson with the intention of testing the waters this summer. However, given his recent performances, Pochettino may want to give him a chance in the senior squad.

Noni Madueke and Mykhaylo Mudryk may face legal consequences as a result. The pair are both high-value assets, having joined Chelsea for a combined £117 million.
However, neither has been able to stamp their authority on Pochettino’s starting XI this season. Mudryk has three goals and two assists in 19 Premier League games, however he has been utilized solely off the bench in recent weeks.

It’s a similar tale for Madueke, who has only made four Premier League starts this season. Boehly may find the two surplus to requirements this summer as Chelsea seeks to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

The players’ prospects of a quick exit would only grow if Hutchinson maintained his blistering form in the Championship. Chelsea’s roster includes a number of highly rated talents, including the Jamaican international.

Fellow wideman Angelo has benefited from regular football on loan at Strasbourg this season, while 16-year-old phenom Kendry Paez, who will join his Chelsea teammates when he turns 18, is expected to become one of the world’s best players.
