Derby County are gearing up for their next League One clash with Bristol Rovers who will miss one key player.

Derby County are preparing for their next League One fixture against Bristol Rovers, who will be missing one crucial player.

The race for League One promotion is on, with numerous clubs vying for second place. With 10 games remaining, Derby County presently holds that position with the hopes of keeping up the pace.

However, the best teams have been inconsistent, with one or more of them surrendering points in each given match. The Rams recently fell victim to this, losing consecutively to Barnsley and Charlton.

A convincing 3-0 win over Port Vale has put Paul Warne’s squad back on track, but they will need to keep winning to earn promotion. The next match is against Bristol Rovers, which will be anything but simple.

Bristol Rovers blew

Derby’s next opponent is Bristol Rovers, and they have a whole week to prepare for all three points. In the rematch at Pride Park, the Rams were involved in a late-night show, with Nathaniel Mendez-Laing scoring in the 90th minute to win the draw.

Former striker Chris Martin, who has 15 goals this season, might haunt the east Midlands team. While there may be concerns about the goal scorer, Bristol Rovers will be missing experienced defender James Wilson.

Last time out, the centre-back was engaged in an off-the-ball incident against Leyton Orient and was shown a straight red card. Matt Taylor will be compelled to make changes to his backline, which has won three of the last four games.

Derby County praise

Bristol Rovers manager Matt Taylor was full of praise for Derby as he looked ahead to the game. Following his team’s victory over Leyton Orient, he told Bristol Live: “I want this bunch of players to value more what we consider vital at this level of football.

“In terms of our confidence, after an ugly win last week and a different type of win this weekend, we’ve now won three of the last four football games. We are headed in the right path, but we must continue to value consistency since every time we have got a glimpse of strong form, it has been cut short.

“Now, we welcome probably one of the best teams in the league [Derby County] to the Mem [Memorial Stadium] next weekend and all of a sudden that is a game to really look forward to.”
