Pochettino responded to the sack chants from fans as they call for Mourinho sensational return

Jose Mourinho might make a spectacular return to Chelsea, according to reports, since Mauricio Pochettino is expected to be fired next week.

The Blues have struggled for most of the season, and Pochettino’s side is presently 11th in the Premier League table, one place better than last season, with 12 games remaining.

Chelsea waited until the 83rd minute to equalise at Brentford in a 2-2 draw, with chanting from the away end calling for Pochettino’s dismissal and the return of Mourinho.

Pochettino responded to the chanting on Saturday, telling reporters: “I’ve been told, I didn’t hear to be honest, it’s tough for me to understand.

“But that’s understandable; we were losing the game 2-1, and they were frustrated. I am one of the ones accountable; I am the coach.

“I’ve been asked before if I feel affection from the fans. No. I’m not worried; we need to accept this relationship. You win your relationship by winning games.

“I will continue to fight to change this perception. We need to deal with some realities. We’re working hard to win games, and the team is fighting.

“If it doesn’t work and the fans are upset, I must respect their feedback. I think the relationship is good. If they did what they did, fans would be emotional.

“I am fighting with everything in me to develop a team that will play in the best way possible to score goals and win games. Today is my 52nd birthday; I know this industry, but I’m going to fight.”

A Todd Boehly-led company has spent more than £1 billion since acquiring Chelsea in May 2022, but the Blues have made significant steps backwards on the pitch despite the investment.

Some people sympathize with Pochettino, but Spanish daily Nacional claims that Pochettino’s dismissal ‘may be revealed next week’, with Boehly set to fire him.

With Chelsea on track for another terrible season, the club’s leadership appears to be planning to ‘bring in Mourinho’ following the Portuguese coach’s exit from Roma earlier this season.

‘Should they fail to win their next encounter, Pochettino will be fired,’ according to the article, which also states that ‘Mourinho is looking forward to Todd Boehly’s invitation to rejoin the Blues’.
