Everton: Gary Lineker instantly responds to Sean Dyche claim after loss v Manchester United

Gary Lineker has immediately responded to Everton boss Sean Dyche’s criticism that his strikers lack drive in front of goal following the Toffees’ defeat to Manchester United.

The Toffees extended their Premier League winless streak to 11 games as they fell 2-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday (9 March), with Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford converting first-half penalties.

Dyche’s side had numerous scoring opportunities but missed several quality ones, with the Toffees manager criticizing his team’s lack of fight and desire to put the ball in the back of the net, but Lineker quickly disagreed.

On Match Of The Day (9 March, 27:45), he stated: “Dare I suggest calmness is better than that.”

While Everton still has a little distance to the relegation zone, it appears that pressure is increasing on the Toffees with each passing week as they continue to drift closer and closer to the dropzone after many terrible performances.

The Toffees do not appear to be able to purchase a goal at this time, as they frequently pass up opportunities and lack the conviction to put the ball in the back of the net that their opponents do.

They have been difficult to break down defensively, but against Manchester United, they conceded two goals that put Dyche’s side on the back foot very immediately. If Everton hopes to avoid relegation, something must change.

While few would argue that Dyche deserves the dismissal or should be under pressure from those in authority on the blue half of Merseyside, he must find a way to get his frontline fire or the Toffees will be in for a difficult few weeks.
