Striker makes surprise transfer move after Hull City agree contract decision

Striker Jim Simms’ contract with Hull City has been dissolved by mutual consent, ending a brief stint at the MKM Stadium after joining from Oldham Athletic in the summer of 2022.

The 20-year-old striker has now moved to Wythenshawe Town FC, where he made his North West Counties League Premier Division debut on Saturday, alongside former City forward George Boyd in a 3-1 victory against Barnoldswick Town.

Simms trained with Liam Rosenior’s first team on a regular basis but never made a first-team appearance for the Tigers. He spent many spells on loan before moving on.

“Hull City can confirm forward Jim Simms’ contract has been cancelled by mutual consent to take up a new opportunity elsewhere,” the Tigers said in a statement. “The Manchester-born striker joined the club from Oldham Athletic in August 2022 after a successful trial, netting three goals on his Under-21s debut against Watford at the MKM Stadium.

“He played an influential role in helping the Tigers reach the national play-offs in the Professional Development League for only the second time in the club’s history, and was an unused substitute for the first team in their mid-season friendlies in Türkiye against Trabzonspor and İstanbul Başakşehir F.K.” During his Tigers career, the 20-year-old spent time on loan at Buxton, Darlington, and Ashton United. He appeared in 35 games for City, scoring 17 goals and assisting 11 times. We would like to thank Jim for his contributions to the club and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
