Barcelona managerial target denies meeting club for meeting – report

Barcelona’s prospective replacement for Xavi as head coach at the end of the season has mainly been down to two names for the time being: the unemployed Hansi Flick and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi.

Barcelona will have to pay De Zerbi’s release clause to Brighton in order to pursue him, making the process far more onerous than Flick’s appointment, who is presently unemployed.

The former Bayern Munich manager managed Germany for two years, including the World Cup, before being fired after six loses and seven draws in 25 games.

He is tempted by Barça’s interest and would gladly take over the position. However, Flick’s entourage has refuted allegations of his agent meeting with the club, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Flick is also getting interest from Bayern, who will part company with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season. The former Chelsea player’s team is currently seven points behind Bayer Leverkusen, which has a game in hand on the Bavarians.

Tuchel will also be without a club in the summer, prompting speculation that he could join Barcelona.

He was recently questioned about his future, but he made it clear that he intended to stay at Bayern until the season’s finish.

“Nothing will happen to me before the end of the season,” Tuchel stated two weeks ago.

“I have a very high professional expectation of myself and that’s completely dedicated to Bayern Munich until the end of the season.”

Barcelona’s hunt for a new manager has mostly focused on Germany for the time being, but as the months pass, they may broaden their sights to consider other potential candidates across Europe.
