The 33 year old linebacker is leaving Seahawks for new NFC team

Bobby Wagner is departing the Seattle Seahawks for the second time.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, veteran linebacker Wagner has agreed to a one-year contract with the Washington Commanders. Wagner may earn up to $8.5 million in the deal, with a guarantee of $6 million.

Wagner, 33, returned to Seattle after spending the 2022 season with the Los Angeles Rams. He still has a lot to contribute, having led the league with 183 total tackles last season (a personal best) and earning his ninth Pro Bowl nod and eleventh All-Pro selection of his career.

Wagner’s new team, Washington, is a perfect fit for him because Dan Quinn is the coach. You may recall Quinn as the defensive coordinator for the Seahawks’ Super Bowl XLVIII victory in 2014 (with Wagner as a starter and defensive leader).

This is shaping up to be a great offseason for the Commanders. They recently signed Austin Ekeler, Marcus Mariota, and Zach Ertz to their offense, reuniting Quinn with some of his former Dallas Cowboys teammates.
