Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney sends a strong message to Wrexham boss in League Two promotion push

Phil Parkinson has responded to Wrexham’s post-game brawl with Tranmere, stating that another defeat will not be “season-defining”.

In their most recent League Two encounter, the Red Dragons lost 1-0 to local rivals at SToK Racecourse. For the time being, they remain in the automatic promotion spots, but they are keeping a close eye on things. Tempers threatened to flare at full-time against Rovers, but Parkinson claimed to have missed the on-field brawl and does not expect any more action to be taken.
Wrexham’s manager stated of finding that words were exchanged at the end of a heated derby match: “I had gone down the tunnel. Someone suggested it to me, but I was not aware of it until then. I’m not sure if the referee had also gone down the tunnel at that point. It’s not what you want to happen, but emotions were running high.”

Wrexham did not score with any of their 25 attempts on goal against Tranmere, but Parkinson refuses to dwell on the past. He went on to say, “We must ponder on this. There is so much to play for. This is not a defining defeat, but it was a local derby, and we understand how it affects not only our fans, but also our players and staff. However, it is not a season-defining defeat. We are in a solid position, and we must dust ourselves off and prepare to play again at Grimsby next week.”

Wrexham have eight games left to play this season, beginning with a trip to Grimsby on Saturday. They are only five points behind leaders Mansfield and level with second-placed Stockport, while sixth-placed Barrow is only six points behind Parkinson’s side as the fourth-tier promotion fight heats up.
