Christian Horner ‘told to resign’ as Red Bull team principal with pressure mounting

Former Formula One driver Ralf Schumacher has encouraged Christian Horner to leave Red Bull. The team principal is still under severe scrutiny because the internal inquiry that absolved him of claims of inappropriate behavior toward a female colleague was not made transparent.

Horner has always disputed the charges and held his place for the first two races of the season. Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez finished first and second, giving the team a perfect start to the new season.

But a black cloud hangs over their success, as Horner’s future remains uncertain. A power battle has broken out in the hierarchy, with Helmut Marko battling for dominance.

Verstappen’s father, Jos, has called for Horner’s dismissal, and now Michael Schumacher’s brother Ralf has joined the cause.

“What I found and still think is a shame: the Christian Horner case outshines everything,” Schumacher told Sport 1.

“This became especially obvious throughout the first weekend in Bahrain. It wasn’t until race day that there was some discussion regarding the sport. What further disturbs me about the situation is the lack of transparency, which makes it incredibly difficult to conduct independent assessments.

“It got uncomfortable for me when he depicted himself as a victim during the PK in Saudi Arabia. I’m sorry for his family, yeah, but there was only one person who began this whole thing: him.

“I can’t accept that he keeps stating he doesn’t want to discuss it in detail. I can speak from my experience when it comes to divorce: it is difficult at first when such a sensitive affair is handled in public. However, there will come a point when we must discuss it since it is ultimately best for all parties.

“For example, you haven’t heard anything from Horner’s staff, which is not good. Nobody speaks about her. One thing is certain: as long as the upheaval continues, Red Bull will suffer greatly. Horner stated that no one is more essential than the team. As a result, he should heed this directive and retire as soon as feasible.”

The Red Bull employee who implicated Horner has been suspended. Schumacher has asked for the mess to be resolved as soon as possible.

He continued, “Everything should be resolved as soon as possible.” It would not harm anyone if he departed. It would be beneficial for the Red Bull brand.”
