Sheffield Wednesday have been told of one factor that could have prevented a relegation battle this season.

Sheffield Wednesday has been informed of one element that could have avoided a relegation battle this season.

Sheffield Wednesday have undergone a tumultuous year, having earned promotion to the Championship in spectacular manner only ten months ago.

The Owls appeared to be on track for another season in the second division, but things took a dramatic turn at Hillsborough when the club announced that manager Darren Moore had resigned by mutual consent in June, with Dejphon Chansiri unable to reach an agreement on a new deal.

The 49-year-old’s departure resulted in the appointment of Xisco Munoz, who led Sheffield Wednesday to eight defeats in his first ten games.

Danny Rohl’s arrival boosted the club’s fortunes, and they are now in a far better position than before Munoz left, but they are still one point from safety at the bottom of the table.

Despite Moore’s success, The Star journalist Joe Crann claims he is ‘confident’ the team will not be relegated under him.

After a fan questioned Crann, “Why are people so happy that Darren Moore is struggling?”… Crann wrote on X: Some people seem to think that taking over already struggling sides with a team constructed by someone else is the same as building on one that you built and had momentum. I am almost positive that #SWFC would not be in the bottom three currently. But we will never know.

Would Darren Moore do better than Danny Rohl?

Darren Moore had received his fair share of criticism as Sheffield Wednesday attempted to climb out of League One, but the miracle elevation would have guaranteed them plenty of momentum and positivity coming into the current season.

There is no guarantee that the Port Vale coach would have guided the Owls to success, but he would have had a whole pre-season, a whole transfer window and a positive relationship with the players that would have allowed him a good chance at keeping the club up.

That’s not to say he would have done a better job than Rohl, since we all know that if the 34-year-old had been given the keys in the summer, the club would be lot higher up the table right now. In fact, if the season had started when he was appointed, the Owls would be 13th in the Championship table.

However, Moore’s presence and Rohl’s early arrival are purely hypothetical, and Sheffield Wednesday are where they are now, whether they like it or not.

However, one thing is certain: hatred for Moore no longer makes sense. He did nothing wrong at Hillsborough, and his departure has left us with Rohl; if he can keep us up this season, we may be in a far better position.
