The 12-year vet is expected to join the NFC West’s Seattle Seahawks.

Johnathan Hankins, a veteran defensive tackle, has left the free agent market. According to Dallas Cowboys reporter Micheal Gehlken, the 12-year veteran is slated to join the NFC West’s Seattle Seahawks.

“Former Cowboys NT Johnathan Hankins is expected to sign with the Seahawks,” a source stated. Both teams were intrigued. “The Seahawks offered more,” Gehlken told X.

Hankins, in his 11th season, had 27 tackles and three sacks in 14 regular-season games while being injured. He last had three sacks in a single season in 2016 with the Giants. He also made four tackles and a half tackle for loss in the playoff loss to the Packers.

Hankins joined Dallas in October 2022, as part of a trade with Las Vegas that sent the Cowboys’ 2023 sixth-round pick to the Raiders and sent a 2024 seventh-round pick to Dallas. The veteran from Ohio State was brought in to help the defensive line, but he only played a few games before tearing his pectoral muscle.

He returned in time for the playoffs and concluded the season with five postseason tackles, one sack and two tackles for loss. He recorded ten tackles in five regular-season games. After the playoffs concluded, Dallas signed him to a new one-year contract worth $1.5 million.

Hankins has spent 11 seasons with the Giants, Colts, Raiders (both in California and Las Vegas), and Cowboys. He was the Giants’ second-round draft pick in 2013. He has 403 career tackles, with 17.5 sacks and 45 tackles for loss.
