Eagles’ GM sends a message to Jalen Hurts over surprising the team as he makes a hilarious comments

Jarvon Coles, an 18-year-old high school senior and local football standout, was the victim of a drive-by gunshot this month. A week later, a large crowd gathered to remember Coles, and in a sweet show of compassion, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts paid for the funeral expenses, according to NFL Media.

Hurts, a Houston native, learned about Coles’ awful death and wanted to lend a helping hand. He participated in the March 16 service at Light of the World Christian Fellowship Church, which drew a varied crowd of relatives, friends, pastors, teammates, and local officials, according to KHOU. According to the site, Hurts delivered a video greeting to the family during the service.

Coles, a student at North Shore High School, a competitor of Hurts’ Channelview High School, was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound after a house party in Humble on March 10.

Police believe one or more attackers opened fire from a block distant before leaving in a car. Coles, a talented all-district linebacker with plans to attend Lamar University, maintained an impressive 4.1 grade-point average.

“You cannot measure the impact he had on and off the field in our program,” North Shore assistant coach Kyle Herridge wrote about Coles. “A truly great human being. Prayers are requested for his family, our student-athletes, staff, and the entire North Shore community.

Hurts has previously intervened in the fight against gun violence. The Pro Bowler actively participated in an Eagles program to buy back firearms in coordination with local law police.

He also collaborated with Penn Medicine to visit hospitalized victims of gun violence, hoping to shed light on the impact of such violence on individuals and communities.
