Leeds United have a number of injury concerns ahead of their clash against Watford on Good Friday

Leeds United’s Pascal Struijk will miss the rest of the Championship season after undergoing hip surgery earlier this week.

The 24-year-old last played for the Whites on Boxing Day and was expected to be out for a short period of time, but his injury proved more complicated than expected, forcing him to have surgery.
He is likely to return during pre-season training, with Leeds only sending him for surgery because to their depth at centre back. Midfielder Ethan Ampadu has been able to go in alongside Tottenham Hotspur loanee Joe Rodon, while Liam Cooper and Charlie Cresswell are both fit and ready to face the Hornets on Friday.
“A decision was made, he already had his surgery last Monday,” Farke told reporters on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“[everything was] long and complicated, more than two hours, but everything went well, and he took his first steps in the rehabilitation process. He will miss the remainder of the season.

Meanwhile, Leeds midfielder Darko Gyabi, who is on loan at Plymouth Argyle, is expected to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing groin surgery and returning to West Yorkshire to finish his rehabilitation programme.

The former Manchester City player joined Plymouth in January and will stay until the end of the season to help them fight against relegation. The Devon outfit is only two points below Millwall in 16th place, and one point clear of QPR in 20th.

Plymouth still plays both clubs before the end of the season, hosting QPR on April 9 and visiting The Den on April 27.

A Leeds statement read: “Leeds United can confirm Pascal Struijk and Darko Gyabi have undergone groin surgery. Both players will be out for the balance of the 2023/24 season while they undergo rehabilitation at Thorp Arch.

“Everyone at the club wishes them well in their recovery and we look forward to them returning to action with the team as soon as they are ready to do so.”
