Championship club Plymouth have sacked manager Ian Foster after another dismal result.

Plymouth have fired manager Ian Foster following another disappointing performance.

Foster was shown the exit door after only three months on the job.

Following Steven Schumacher’s transfer to Stoke, the former England Under-20 coach was appointed manager of the Championship squad in early January.

Plymouth’s performance has dipped following a promising start, as evidenced by eight losses in the last 11 games, five of which have been at home.

Due to their dismal form, Argyle is only one point above the bottom three. Foster was fired after Argyle lost 1-0 at home to Bristol City on Easter Monday.

With six games remaining in the season, they are just one point above the bottom.

Since February 24, the Pilgrims have gone five games without winning or scoring at home. During this stretch, they have not won a league game.

Foster’s team was booed off the pitch at the end of Plymouth’s 1-0 loss against Bristol City.

Kevin Nancekivell, the first-team coach, and Neil Dewsnip, the director of football, will lead the team for the remainder of the season.

Chairman Simon Hallett confirmed in a statement:

“Ian was selected after a rigorous and long recruitment process, and his coaching credentials were particularly impressive when making the decision.

“But we have to balance long-term stability against short-term decisions, and we have given Ian as much time as possible to evaluate if the outcomes would improve.

“Unfortunately, that has not been the case, and we believe now is the moment to make a change to improve our chances of survival.

According to The Telegraph, former manager Neil Warnock is being considered for a surprise return to the squad he managed from 1995 to 1997.

After winning League One the previous season, Argyle were promoted to the second tier for the first time since 2010.
