Free Agent WR Odell Beckham Jr.: Talk about reports of him heading to Miami Dolphins

As the offseason progresses, the Miami Dolphins are still hunting for another wide receiver to complement studs Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. On Friday, Hill announced on one of his social media accounts that free agent Odell Beckham Jr. was going to Miami, filling the team’s third wide receiver spot. However, Beckham promptly dispelled the reports on his Twitter (also known as X) profile, putting an end to the conjecture.

Beckham Jr. is not the first free-agent wide receiver connected to the Dolphins. According to many reports, the AFC East club remains the front-runner to sign former Cincinnati Bengals pass catcher Tyler Boyd. Miami also re-signed wide receiver Braxton Berrios this offseason. Berrios was a former All-Pro punt returner.
Odell Beckham Jr., the free-agent wide receiver, has not agreed to terms with the Miami Dolphins. On Friday, the NFL world deemed it a done deal after Miami megastar Tyreek Hill made it official via his Snapchat account. Beckham Jr. wrote on his social media account hours later, “Lol, I’m confused today. Did I sign anywhere? “Everyone keeps hitting me.”

Last season, Beckham Jr. played for the Baltimore Ravens, catching 35 catches for 568 yards and three touchdowns. It was his least productive NFL season since the injury-shortened 2020 season, when he had only 319 receiving yards in seven games. Beckham Jr., the 12th overall choice in the 2014 NFL Draft, began his professional career with the New York Giants. He shone in his debut season, capturing AP Offensive Rookie of the Year with 1,305 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. The LSU product earned the All-Pro second team the next two seasons, accumulating 2,817 yards and 23 touchdowns in that time.
Beckham Jr. joined the Cleveland Browns in 2019. However, after two and a half seasons of low performance, the AFC North club parted ways with the wideout. Following his release, he joined the Los Angeles Rams and won the Super Bowl that same season. Beckham Jr. suffered a ruptured ACL in the triumph and will miss the whole 2022 season.

The Miami Dolphins are expected to add another wide receiver in either free agency or the draft. Last season, Miami had big production from superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill. The speedster had an NFL-high 1,799 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. Meanwhile, fellow receiver Jaylen Waddle had 72 grabs for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns. However, no other receiver reached 300 yards.

Cedric Wilson Jr., a former Dallas Cowboys pass catcher, has 296 yards receiving on 22 receptions. Meanwhile, Braxton Berrios had 27 catches for 238 yards and one touchdown. Robbie Chosen, River Cracraft, and Chase Claypool were the only other wide receivers to make a catch.
