Lions president Rod Wood stretches into hyperbole talking about new contract details

The Detroit Lions are due for new primary uniforms, albeit a little later than the NFL allows. However, the process was not rushed or taken lightly, which is a positive sign. The Lions will wear new uniforms beginning next season, and the official announcement is scheduled for April 18–a week before the draft, which is held in Detroit this year.

In late March, Lions president Rod Wood dropped some indications about the new outfits. As long as the all-gray “Color Rush” is gone and never to return, it’s difficult to see many people grumbling.

“They’re paying homage to our historic color while adding a modern spin. “And it gives us a lot more options,” Wood said about the new outfits. “We’re going to introduce a couple different pant options that can go with jerseys, so it will give us different options to wear during the season.”

This week, the NFL declared that all clubs will be permitted to add a third helmet to their “uniform closet.” At recent league meetings, Wood stated that the Lions’ alternate helmet was being modified.
