Robins has given his verdict on whether Blues will survive at the end of the campaign or not.

In an interview with Coventry Live, Coventry City manager Mark Robins predicted that Birmingham City would avoid relegation at the end of the season.

The Sky Blues are currently vying for promotion, and a win over Birmingham today might be critical in their bid to beat Norwich City to a spot in the top six by the end of the season.

Birmingham, on the other side, are fighting for Championship survival after struggling significantly since John Eustace’s resignation.

Eustace was a popular figure at St Andrew’s and had led the club to the play-offs earlier in the season, but the board wanted to see a change in playing style and signed Wayne Rooney as his replacement.

Rooney’s stay proved to be a fiasco, and with his successor Tony Mowbray being unable to play due to health issues, the Blues have found themselves in a tough relegation struggle.

Gary Rowett has been appointed to try to turn things around, but he hasn’t had much success since his return to St Andrew’s, and the next three games are critical.

They may be only one point short of safety at this moment, but their midweek home loss to Cardiff City was a huge blow, and they will need to rebound.

Mark Robins discusses Birmingham City’s chances of survival.
Birmingham are currently up against it, with a lot of pressure on the players to survive and offer the board the best chance of pushing the club to the next level at some stage.

However, Robins believes Blues will survive, telling Coventry Live: “We’re all in it for the points. They struggled against Cardiff on Wednesday.

“They conceded a good goal from Cardiff’s perspective. There was a turnover of possession and a rapid exchange of passes, and they ended up scoring the game-winning goal, but Birmingham is only losing games by the odd goal, and appears to be winning by the odd goal.

“Teams go for it for various reasons, and I don’t see any difference in this game. We will undoubtedly go all out to earn the points, and we expect them to do the same.

“They are fighting for their lives but I think they will be OK; I think they will be alright, to be honest.”

Birmingham City faces a difficult task in their bid for survival.

The Blues have some challenging games coming up.

Today’s opponents, Coventry, are in good shape and still fighting for a place in the top six.

They may enjoy their chances of taking three points away from Rotherham United next Saturday, but the Millers are free to express themselves now that their relegation has been guaranteed.

Huddersfield Town’s away game looks set to be critical, as they travel home to face promotion challengers Norwich on the penultimate day.

The next few weeks figure to be critical for Blues.
