Tiger Woods delivered a serious warning to his son Charlie ahead of teeing off in the tournament at Augusta on Thursday

Tiger Woods has informed his son, Charlie, that he will no longer be permitted to tee off from the members’ tees at the Masters after admitting that the 15-year-old now hits the ball further than him.

Charlie aspires to follow in his father’s footsteps and play golf professionally, and he has already competed in a PGA qualifier. In fact, his development has progressed to the point where he can now outdrive his father.

Woods, one of the most competitive athletes in history, is unwilling to give his son an easy ride and has now imposed a hard rule for their next match at Augusta National, site of the Masters.

“We haven’t played for a few years. “I came up here last weekend,” Woods said when asked if he had lately played the course with Charlie. “He preferred to remain at home. So I came up here and got to play with the chairman, Rob, and JT, and we had an incredible blast.

“I’d like to play a little more up here with him and share our experiences. Especially now that he’s gotten a little longer and can hit it past me. So I believe that the days of playing from members’ tees are past. He has to come back with us.”

Charlie missed out on his maiden PGA Tour event after shooting a terrible 16-over round at Lost Lake. The teenager had a nightmare on the par-four seventh hole, scoring a 12.

But the teenager had a happier experience lately when his father, Tiger, and mother, Elin Nordegren, celebrated his state win in Florida. Charlie received a ring and a medal from The Benjamin School, which won the Class 1A state golf title.

Tiger caddied for Charlie at the PNC Championship pro-am in December at the Ritz-Carlton golf course, where he lauded his son’s game. “His speed has gone dramatically up this year,” he went on to say.

In response to his son’s request for advice, Tiger stated, “I enjoyed caddying for him and being there with him, just to talk through shots and have him understand what I would see or the thought process I would go through.” He would bounce things off of me, and I would offer him my opinion on various issues.”

Tiger will compete for his sixth green jacket when he tees off on Thursday. It will be only his second event of the year, having withdrawn from The Genesis Invitation in February. The 48-year-old is currently working his way back to full fitness following ankle fusion surgery last year.
