Leeds United manager made a troubling announcement as wife is in critical condition

Leeds United will be hoping that their recent poor form does not cost them when it comes to securing automatic promotion at the end of the action-packed 46-game Championship season, after suffering a humiliating 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers in their most recent meeting.

Sammie Szmodics was the Riversiders’ man who broke Leeds hearts at Elland Road, demonstrating why he is the division’s leading scorer with 24 goals by calmly scoring past Illan Meslier late on.

However, not all hope is gone for Leeds, with Daniel Farke hoping that just one positive victory can restore the feel-good element in the Whites’ camp and secure automatic promotion.

It’s not as bad as it was when the West Yorkshire club struggled to finish in mid-table in the second division under forgotten managers like Garry Monk, with one transfer flop from that bleak period in the Whites’ recent history not fondly remembered.
Back in 2016, Monk made the purchase of Eunan O’Kane on transfer deadline day, swooping in at the last minute to take him away from AFC Bournemouth.

At the time, this was regarded as a wise and prudent purchase, with O’Kane earning a reputation at the Cherries for being a consistent, if unspectacular, presence in the middle of the park.

He would make 118 appearances for Bournemouth, helping them progress from League One to the Premier League until the pull of Leeds came calling.
