Fernando Alonso responds to Taylor Swift ‘Aston Martin’ lyrics reference with cryptic video

Fernando Alonso looks to have grabbed at the chance to address fans who believe Taylor Swift mentioned him in her current album.

The two were said to be dating last year before the singer began dating NFL player Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Shake It Off singer’s affair with the American football player has captivated the world, with Swift mentioning Kelce in at least one track on her new album.

Swifties and Formula One fans alike went berserk on social media this week after hearing the lyrics to her new song ‘imgonnagetyouback’, with two of the verses allegedly referring to Alonso.

She sings, “Small talk, huge walk; behave as if I don’t care what you did. I’m an Aston Martin that you drove right into a ditch, then fled and hid.”

Now, the Aston Martin driver has answered.

Alonso can be seen sitting on a chair with an iPad in his hand in a TikTok video uploaded by his team.

The same passage of the song that Swift is thought to have been directing at Alonso plays in the background while he sits there.

He then places his fingers to his lips, as if to’shh’ at the camera, before continuing to scroll.

“Fernando Alonso’s Taylor Swift TikTok is everything,” one fan remarked on X, in response to the video.

A second added: “I just busted out laughing when that Fernando Alonso Aston Martin tiktok appeared on my fyp. “Talk about seizing an opportunity.”

Swift’s album debuted the day before the Chinese Grand Prix.

Alonso will start Sunday’s race in third place after a strong qualifying session, with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez clinching the first row for Red Bull.

However, the Spaniard was less fortunate in Saturday’s short race, with Alonso being forced to retire after colliding with Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz.

He was found by the stewards to have caused a collision and handed a ten-second penalty after the race, which had no bearing because he did not finish.

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen pursued down and passed Lewis Hamilton to win the first sprint of the 2024 Formula One season.

Hamilton finished second in the sprint, but had a nightmare in qualifying, being eliminated in the first round – the Mercedes driver’s pace was only good for 18th.
