Former FSU Football Defender And Son Of Seminole Legend Enters NCAA Transfer Portal

Jaden Floyd, a former defensive back for Florida State football, has logged into the transfer site. The junior redshirt will be eligible for two more years. Jaden is the son of William Floyd, a legendary FSU football player and color analyst for Seminole IMG Sports Network.

He declared in a statement that he intended to use the site.

“To begin with, let me express my gratitude to God Almighty for providing me with this chance. A significant portion of my life has revolved around Florida State since I was five years old. You can ask anyone who has supported me along the way. I knew I wanted to be a part of this illustrious program and leave my mark here, whether it was running around Doak as a youngster or running out of the tunnel for the first time against Notre Dame in my freshman year. However, I firmly think that the Lord leads you on these adventures in order to prepare you for the next great thing. That being said, I will be logging onto the transfer portal with a two-year eligibility period, having had lengthy discussions with God, my family, and myself,” Floyd stated.

“I’d like to express my gratitude to my family for always supporting me. I’m grateful to coaches Norvell, Fuller, Surtain, and Woodson for allowing me to play for the Noles,” Floyd went on. “Thank you for the unending love and partnerships, and to everyone associated with FSU athletics as well. Finally, I would want to thank my teammates for challenging me every day and for becoming my lifelong brothers, both of which helped me in making this difficult decision. Keep going up and strive for that 1% every single day. I will always be thankful to be able to call myself a Florida State Seminole, and I will always bleed garnet and gold. Forever dopey boy! J Love 39 – Floyd out.

Jaden Floyd played in the second game of the 2023 season against Southern Mississippi as a walk-on and scout team member for FSU. The Seminoles prevailed 66–13, and he recorded a tackle.

He was one of six players to receive the 2022 Bill McGrotha Award, which the Tallahassee QB Club gives to the team’s best humanitarians.

During his three years as a fullback at Florida State, including his last season of national title in 1993, the elder Floyd played for the program. For the Seminoles, he appeared in 35 games, amassed 933 scrimmage yards, and scored 20 touchdowns.

The San Francisco 49ers selected William Floyd with the 28th overall pick in the 1994 NFL Draft, and Floyd went on to help the team win a Super Bowl in 1995. Over the course of seven seasons, he appeared in 90 NFL games and scored 25 touchdowns.

Two scholarship athletes from Florida State have logged in thus far this spring: cornerback Greedy Vance and wide receiver Joshua Burrell. To reach the cap of 85 scholarships, the program will still need to let go of a good number of scholarship players.

The Seminoles saw quarterback Tate Rodemaker (Southern Miss), quarterback AJ Duffy (San Diego State), running back Rodney Hill (Arkansas), running back CJ Campbell (FAU), wide receiver Goldie Lawrence (?), tight end Markeston Douglas (Arizona State), tight end Preston Daniel (Miami-Ohio), offensive lineman Thomas Shrader (Appalachian State), offensive lineman Bless Harris (TCU), offensive lineman Daughtry Richardson (FAU), offensive lineman Qae’shon Sapp (?), defensive end Gilber Edmond (South Carolina), defensive lineman Dennis Briggs (Illinois), defensive tackle Malcolm Ray (Rutgers), defensive tackle Ayobami Tifase (?), linebacker Dylan Brown-Turner (UTEP), and kicker Tyler Keltner (Oklahoma) enter the portal during the winter transfer portal window that closed on January 4.
