New York Yankees to be without the services of the elite prospect due to eye injury

The New York Yankees are not at full strength right now.

New York has a number of injuries to start the 2023 season. The Yankees have found a way to win early this season, but they are missing a few key players, the most crucial of which is Gerrit Cole, the 2023 American League Cy Young Award winner.

However, Cole is not the only player that is now out. Elite talent Oswald Peraza is now sidelined due to an injury.

He has been suffering with a shoulder ailment and has yet to play in a game for New York. According to MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch, he is still weeks away from a minor league assignment and appears to be no closer to a return.

“Oswald Peraza (right shoulder) is still at least a couple of weeks away from playing in Minor League games, Aaron Boone said this morning,” Hoch told reporters. “Peraza has been hitting and throwing at the Yankees’ complex in Tampa.”

Peraza has begun to make progress, hitting and throwing, but it appears that he will not be with the major league club for at least a month. He hopes to begin a minor league assignment in a few weeks and will need a few more weeks of at-bats to catch up.

Peraza was anticipated to play a larger part for the team this season, but his injury could change everything. Hopefully, he can recuperate and return to the field soon.
