English singer-songwriter Liam Gallagher called Manchester United ‘chumps’ as he congratulated the Sky Blues with eight-word message

Oasis’ Liam Gallagher has complimented Coventry City FC on their valiant comeback against Manchester United in the Emirates FA Cup. Thousands of Sky Blues fans packed Wembley Stadium on Sunday (April 21).

Coventry City was inches away from pulling off one of the greatest FA Cup comebacks in history against Manchester United. According to Andy Turner, Mark Robins’ team believed they had won the tie in injury time after rallying from 3-0 down to force extra time.

A last-minute VAR judgment cost the Sky Blues a stunning victory over the Red Devils. It meant that the match went to a spot shootout, which United won 4-2, and they will now face Manchester City in the FA Cup.

Gallagher has previously stated that he ‘did not see Manchester United winning Coventry.’ He is a die-hard Manchester City fan who is frequently spotted supporting them on at the Etihad Stadium.

He released an eight-word statement in which he called Manchester United ‘chumps.’ In a post on X, the 51-year-old said, “Congrats to Coventry. They rattled those chumps to ras.”

When asked what he meant to do with the rest of Sunday, Gallagher replied, “To laugh at my Man Utd fan boys’ embarrassing.”

Fans were distraught when the Sky Blues nearly missed out on the enthralling showdown at Wembley. Among them was Big Brother’s Dylan Tennant, who claimed Coventry City had been ‘robbed.’

Singer Tom Grennan said they should ‘be proud’ of what they accomplished at Wembley. He wrote, “COVENTRY F***** CITY!” Be proud; everyone in the world of football is talking about the Sky Blues again. “Mark Robins is an absolute G.”

Manager Mark Robins expressed his enormous delight after seeing Coventry City play ‘toe-to-toe’ with Manchester United, with the Sky Blues missing out by a ‘toenail.’ Robins stated that he ‘went through a wide range of emotions’ but was ‘proud of everything they have done.’
