Breaking News: Tiger Woods’ teenage son Charlie suffers major disappointment

Tiger Woods’ teenage son Charlie was forced to wait for his big debut.

The 15-year-old did not advance from local qualifying for the 2024 U.S. Open, which will be played at Pinehurst No. 2.

Charlie shot nine over par 81 on Thursday at the Legacy Golf & Tennis Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Unsurprisingly, there was a lot of media and fan curiosity as the golf legend’s son teed it up.

Charlie competed against 84 other players, and only the top five advanced to a 36-hole qualifier in June.

Cameron Kuchar, the son of PGA Tour veteran Matt, was also among the field’s notable names.

Charlie’s scorecard showed one birdie, four bogeys, and three double bogeys.

He went out in 40 and came in on 41 strokes on the back nine, finishing 61st overall.

Charlie was sighted with his father during practice rounds at the Legacy Golf & Tennis Club.

However, his father Tiger was not there at yesterday’s qualifier, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Tiger Woods, 48, has had another busy week after learning that the PGA Tour has awarded him a $100 million equity payment for’staying loyal’ to the North American circuit and not joining LIV Golf.

Charlie has also had an extremely hectic stretch.

In the winter, he won a state high school title with his squad in Florida.

It was a feat that even his father had never accomplished during his legendary junior years.

In February, Charlie tried to qualify for his first PGA Tour event.

He fell short in a pre-qualifier for the Cognizant Classic.

His arrival was tarnished by ‘unruly’ behavior from those who gathered to see.

The 2024 US Open will be held at Pinehurst No. 2 from June 13 to 16.

For the first time since 1996, Tiger is not exempt from competing in the majors.

His exemption from his 2019 Masters win expired last year.

Tiger has earlier stated that he ‘did not know’ whether he needed to officially request an exemption from the USGA.

Given Tiger’s three U.S. Open victories, the governing body is expected to extend an invitation to him soon.

Tiger won the United States Open in 2000 and 2002.

Without a doubt, his most memorable triumph came at the 2008 US Open.

Tiger Woods defeated Rocco Mediate on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff at Torrey Pines.
