Danny Rohl has provided a one word update on his future at Sheffield Wednesday.

Danny Rohl has issued a one-word update on his future with Sheffield Wednesday.

Danny Rohl appears set to keep Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship after an incredible 3-0 victory over West Brom.

Antony Musaba, Ike Ugbo, and Josh Windass scored to propel the Owls into 20th position, three points clear of the relegation zone.

Wednesday now needs a single point on the last day of the season to avoid relegation for another season.

The club was seven points behind when Rohl arrived in October, and he has already done miracles to entirely turn a struggling team.

Sheffield Wednesday fans are now desperate for the German coach to stay at Hillsborough beyond the summer, with Sunderland reportedly interested.

Dejphon Chansiri has been asked to offer Rohl new terms on his contract in order to maintain him, but his future remains uncertain, as does that of the bulk of the squad.

Danny Rohl discusses his future.
The 34-year-old was asked about his future after yesterday’s victory, and he delivered a simple one-word response.

When asked if he had spoken to Chansiri about his future by journalist Alan Biggs, Rohl just said ‘no’.

What would happen to Sheffield Wednesday if he left?
The team, like the players, is expected to wait until their league position is established next weekend before beginning contract negotiations.

Rohl may not decide to stay in Yorkshire until he knows if he will manage in the Championship.

However, Chansiri’s intentions should remain unaffected. The Thai owner should strive to encourage Rohl to stay, regardless of where they are in the football pyramid.

Wednesday will undoubtedly struggle next season if he leaves, but if Rohl is allowed a full pre-season and summer transfer window to help construct his squad, they might contend for a play-off spot.

If the season had begun when he was hired, the Owls would be tenth in the Championship, nine points behind sixth place and 13 points ahead of the bottom three.

Rohl believes he is the only manager capable of helping Wednesday fulfill its full potential, whereas if he departs, the club may face another relegation struggle – provided they remain up.

It may be the perfect finish to Wednesday’s difficult season, but it will all be for naught if they are forced to appoint a new head coach.
