The top three-point shooter in the country has announced his commitment to Kentucky.

Kentucky made another big shock in the transfer portal by signing the country’s top shooter, Koby Brea.

Brea, a Dayton transfer, was considering Kentucky as well as UConn, Kansas, North Carolina, and Duke.

The sharpshooter is returning from an official visit to Lexington, where Kentucky sat in the ‘driver’s seat’ before walking onto campus. With nothing finalized until the announcement, Kentucky still needed to work to finish the project. They did.

“Growing up, I was told I was dreaming too big whenever I’d say my dream was to play for the University of Kentucky,” Brea said in an interview with ESPN. “I feel like God does everything for a reason, and He has put me in a position where I’m able to play for my dream school in my last year of college, while playing for something bigger than myself.”

This season, Brea averaged 11.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists while shooting 49.8 percent from three, the highest in the country. He averaged three 3s per game and hit 100 for the season.

Kentucky has previously signed backcourt players Lamont Butler and Otega Oweh, but neither is a high-volume shooter. Brea is precisely that.

As a junior, Brea shot 37% from three and made 50 threes. He averaged 6.8 points and 26.5 minutes per game.

Brea shot 42.3 percent and made 63 three-pointers in 21.7 minutes per game as a sophomore. He scored an average of 8.1 points each game.

Brea is Kentucky and Mark Pope’s sixth transfer pledge in the last week, joining the previously mentioned Butler and Oweh, as well as forwards Andrew Carr, Brandon Garrison, and Amari Williams.

Kentucky still has five scholarships available for next season, so the work in Lexington is not over.
