Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald signs divorce with wife due to….

RENTON, Washington (AP) Mike Macdonald, the new head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, moved around. Spend some time with the defensive lineman. A little interaction with the linebackers. The offense took up little time.

He chose to be an observer on the first day of the Seattle Seahawks’ rookie minicamp, which was also his first somewhat complete session as an NFL head coach.

“(Defensive coordinator Aden Durdee) was calling the plays on defense because I was like, ‘I think I need to figure out how to run a practice first,'” Macdonald remarked with a grin on his face. “It was fun. There are obviously things you’re taking notes on, things you’d like to improve, and things we felt we could have done better. But overall, excellent effort. The coaches were into it. Lots much enthusiasm. So, a good start.

While the Seahawks began their offseason program with veterans a few weeks ago, there were restrictions on the amount of on-field time. So Friday was Macdonald’s first actual practice since becoming the NFL’s youngest head coach when he was hired to replace Pete Carroll.

For the time being, the emphasis is on teaching, especially with a draft class that includes some potential starters such as first-round defensive end Byron Murphy II and third-round guard Christian Haynes. Murphy signed his four-year rookie deal with an option for a fifth year on Friday.
