Breaking: Barry Bannan has warned Sheffield Wednesday not to…..

Barry Bannan has warned Sheffield Wednesday not to squander the “momentum” which saved them from Championship relegation. The Owls captain is confident chairman Dejphon Chansiri will do what he can to keep manager Danny Rohl, but warned they must hit the ground running in the transfer market.

The captain of the Owls is optimistic that chairman Dejphon Chansiri would exert all of his efforts to retain manager Danny Rohl, but he has issued a warning: they need to move quickly in the transfer market.

On the last day of the season, they defeated Sunderland 2-0 to stave off relegation, which had been all but inevitable prior to Rohl taking charge of the team he took over in October.

The Owls have won 28 games since the beginning of December, bettering the record of just five other teams in the division with 46 points.

However, they have a history of blowing these kinds of chances; they fired their manager soon after winning the League One play-offs the previous season, and there have been many rumors that Rohl is going to leave.

“Everybody’s enjoying what we’re doing so it’s important we don’t let that momentum slip,” Bannan stated. It’s critical that we maintain the momentum we built in the second part of the season when we return after the summer.

“Ipswich is an illustration of a League One team that gained momentum and is currently a Premier League team.

“The manager has made it obvious that this is not how we want to play, so we’ll have a nice six weeks to give him what he really wants.

“I believe the chairman is aware of his strengths. With Danny Rohl in charge, I’m sure Sheffield Wednesday will look different.”

Twelve players, including Bannan, have had their contracts extended by the club.

“I’m confident I’ll still be here next season after speaking to the manager,” the Scottish player stated.

Rohl offered less comfort.

“I will not speak about my future,” he replied. “We’re going to meet with Chansiri once this week and again as soon as possible.”
