Omari Hutchinson makes Chelsea transfer stance clear after Ipswich Premier League promotion

Omari Hutchinson, a Chelsea loanee, has stated that he hopes to rejoin Ipswich Town the next season after helping the team snap a 22-year Premier League drought.

On Saturday, Ipswich defeated Huddersfield Town and earned back-to-back promotions thanks to a goal from Hutchinson. The Express stated that the young player built on Wes Burns’ breakout performance at Portman Road by defeating the Terriers 2-0 and earning the second automatic promotion position in the Championship.

Along with Leeds United and Leicester City, the Tractor Boys were viewed as the underdogs in a thrilling three-way competition for Premier League football. Leicester and Leeds were looking for an early return to the top level, while Kieran McKenna had previously managed the team to promotion from League One.

Though the former took first place, Hutchinson was instrumental in Ipswich’s second-place result, sending Leeds into the dreaded play-offs. The 20-year-old made his first two senior appearances in the 2022–2023 season before joining Ipswich on loan from Chelsea last summer to play regular games.

Hutchinson began the season as a replacement but soon proved he was a reliable starter. With 50 appearances during the season, he scored 11 goals and provided six assists, sparking speculation that Mauricio Pochettino may use him at Stamford Bridge the following season.

The Jamaican star of Ipswich Town said he was having a great time celebrating the club’s promotion, but he is excited to stay for their successful return to the Premier League. “I hope so,” he said in response to inquiries over his future plans with Ipswich. I’m not sure.

“I’ll have to see what my agent is saying and what the manager is saying and then go from there,” he said. “I’m not sure. Right now, I just want to celebrate.”

Paul Cook, the town manager, will probably be overjoyed to see Hutchinson back at Portman Road after he expressed his admiration for his achievements in recent months.

“He’s provided more than you could ask for in a loan player. Although he’s young and has a lot of potential, the manager acknowledged in an interview with Sky Sports that prior to this season, he has never played senior football. “I really liked his mentality, and we were on the same page as him, his family and his representation about what he needed, not just in terms of minutes but also development.”

“He entered the club with the appropriate mindset and soon grasped the necessary skills for success. He immediately won over the veteran players because of that, and he has continued to do so throughout the season.”

“He’s still quite young, even though he’s performing well. Though his path ahead may not be straightforward, he possesses exceptional talent and a positive outlook on realizing it.”

Pochettino will undoubtedly want to have some conversations with Hutchinson this summer. The Argentinian has had a lot to consider this summer because of the starlet’s incredible season and Chelsea’s attack, which has at times this season left much to be desired.
