May 14 (UPI) — Golf player Rory McIlroy filed for his wife’s divorce. Erica, according to Palm Beach County records, after seven years of marriage.
McIlroy, who wed Erica Stoll in 2017, filed for divorce at Palm Beach Gardens, Florida’s North County Courthouse on Monday. Poppy, their daughter, was their only child and was born in 2020.
In anticipation of his 2024 PGA Championship tee off, the four-time major champion is getting ready. The season’s second major will take place in Louisville, Kentucky’s Valhalla Golf Club from Thursday through Sunday.
Most oddsmakers believe that McIlroy, who won the PGA Championship in both 2012 and 2014, has the second-best chance to win the competition.
The Northern Ireland native, 35, will tee off on hole No. 10 at 8:15 a.m. EDT on Thursday in Louisville with Dustin Johnson and Justin Rose in the opening round of the PGA Championship.
ESPN+ will begin streaming the opening round on Thursday at 7 a.m. ESPN will provide TV coverage on Thursday from noon to eight o’clock.
