Knicks key star ruled out for potential closeout game

According to sources, Ian Begley of SNY.tv (Twitter link) will be informed that Knicks forward OG Anunoby will not be available for Friday’s sixth game of New York’s second round playoff series against the Pacers.

The 6’7″ swingman has been sidelined with a hamstring ailment since Game 2.

In the best-of-seven series, New York leads Indiana 3-2, thus the Knicks may be able to finish the Pacers on the road this Friday sans Anunoby. Begley continues, “There’s a chance Anunoby could be healthy enough to play in a Game 7 if they don’t accomplish this.”

The veteran small forward has averaged 16.4 points on a slash line of.495/.395/.615 in his eight accessible postseason games for New York this spring (all starts), along with 6.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.1 blocks, and one steal per game.

In the Eastern Conference Finals, the series victor will play the Celtics, who are ranked #1. On Wednesday night, Boston defeated the Cavaliers in a five-game series.
