Breaking: New York Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau makes a shock announcement on his retirement

You’re out of luck if you were hoping to hear Leon Rose’s thoughts on one of the best seasons the franchise has ever had.

The president of the New York Knicks has once again turned down a request to hold a media availability at the end of the season, according to Fred Katz of The Athletic. This indicates that, in almost three years, the organization has not had a senior representative from its front office talk on the record to independent media, which is almost absurd—especially given the state of sports in New York.

A strong team in the league, the Knicks would have had a strong opportunity to win the Larry O’Brien Trophy every year since 1973 if they hadn’t lost so many important players to injuries.

Rose has not held a single press conference since taking over the organization in April 2020, but since they are winning, there doesn’t appear to be much opposition from the national media. To his credit, Rose has created a consistent winner. But it would not sit well with fans if a former Knicks executive, like Phil Jackson, chose to abdicate any duty for transparency and refused to speak to reporters. Instead, he would delegated that job to his coaching staff.

Yet it doesn’t appear to bother Knicks supporters.

Sean Highkin noted that fans typically side with the team if a beat writer for the Knicks publishes on social media that Rose is unwilling to carry out his responsibility as the team’s spokesperson.
