Latest Tiger Woods news sparks frenzy among golf fans

Tiger Woods might return to action than we anticipate.

The Hall of Famer expressed his goal to return to competitive play by the end of 2023, following a successful subtalar fusion procedure on his gammy right ankle.

Some of his detractors have implied that his goals are a little too lofty.

Given his results at the 2024 Masters and PGA tournament, some observers, journalists, and golf fans have even suggested that Woods is done and won’t be a serious contender for a major tournament in the future.

Despite missing the cut at Valhalla earlier in the month, Woods hasn’t given up and said he can win again—competitive reps are the only thing missing.

To put it another way, the 15-time major champion has to participate in regular Tour tournaments to prepare for the remaining majors.

To get entry for the renowned Pinehurst No. 2 U.S. Open next month, Woods required a special invitation from the USGA.

That is scheduled for June 13–16.

There are a couple of events Woods could play in between then and now.

And it appears that Woods has decided to play the Memorial at Muirfield Village.

The field for the 2024 Memorial will be confirmed on 26 May.

It has been given ‘signature’ status for the 2024 season, which means Woods is not able to compete without an exemption.

Woods last won the Memorial in 2012.
