F1 star ruled out of joining Mercedes Ferrari and Red Bull after ‘attacking’ team-mate

Esteban Ocon has been informed by Martin Brundle that he has destroyed his chances of competing for a top team. Ocon and Pierre Gasly, his Alpine teammate, collided on the opening lap of the Monaco Grand Prix, causing Ocon to crash out.

After being placed together last year, the French couple has had a history of incidents, with a grudge extending back to their karting days. This is only the most recent in a long string of them. Furthermore, Gasly is not the first person with whom Ocon has disagreements.

F1 icon Brundle believes that has hurt his chances going forward and that as a result, teams like Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull won’t approach him.

He stated in his Sky Sports blog that although Okon is a skilled and quick racer, his experience shows that he has an unreasonable red mist when it comes to racing, especially against teammates.

Sergio Perez, Fernando Alonso, and now Gasly have all harshly criticized him for his intra-team hostility and contact. It will be very costly for Esteban since no organization, let alone a front-runner, would tolerate such kind of thinking.

When a driver competes for an F1 team, they are representing hundreds of thousands of dedicated and professional individuals as well as hundreds of millions of pounds in sponsorship and investment. You just cannot continue to viciously assault your one remaining team member.”

Ocon appears to be headed for a punishment; according to Sky Sports News, he could be disqualified from the upcoming race in Canada. Soon after the incident, reserve driver Jack Doohan was observed having a conversation with Bruno Famin, the principal of the Alpine team.

“Esteban’s assault was absolutely inappropriate. There will be repercussions because it’s precisely what we didn’t want to see, Famin told Canal+.

We’re going to have to make a difficult choice. There was no room for his teammate to maneuver, especially on the opening lap at the Portier.”

Gasly managed to complete and recorded his first point of the year, placing him in tenth place. Nevertheless, he appeared irritated while speaking to Sky after the race, saying, “I’m just disappointed with Esteban because it shouldn’t have happened, and for the team.” Such behavior is not something we can afford.

“Take that much risk to take out both cars with your team-mate is never something you should do. We had explicit instructions prior to the race, and this hasn’t been followed. We cannot afford to find ourselves in a similar circumstance down the road, therefore I’m sure it will be considered.”

Ocon, who received a grid penalty for his subsequent game, first declined to address his careless action, but he quickly apologized on social media. It said: “I apologize to the team for today’s incident; I was at fault for the gap being too small in the end.” I’m hoping the team can finish with some well-earned points today.”
