Everton consider to sign Kalvin Phillips as former Leeds United hero faces uncertain future

Kalvin Phillips, a former Leeds United midfielder, is a target for Everton to sign on a loan. The Manchester City player is once again anticipated to be allowed to depart the Etihad Stadium on a temporary contract this summer. He spent the second half of the previous season on loan at West Ham.

According to the PA news agency, Sean Dyche is eager to bring the 28-year-old to Goodison Park for the upcoming season. In the summer of 2022, Phillips joined City for £45 million from Leeds, but he has only made 31 appearances for the team.

For Phillips, who played for England and advanced to the Euro 2020 final, it has been a fall from glory.

However, he did not live up to Pep Guardiola’s expectations and spent the second part of the previous season on a punishing loan at West Ham.

He was responsible for goals given up against Manchester United and Bournemouth, was sent off against Nottingham Forest, and was later seen on camera making an offensive gesture toward West Ham supporters following a loss at Newcastle.

In an attempt to launch his career, Gareth Southgate left him out of his 31-man training squad for Euro 2024 because to his poor form.

Jack Harrison, a winger for Leeds, is another player that Everton is interested in signing on loan. Harrison appeared in 35 games for the Toffees in the previous campaign, and it appears that he will be available once more in the wake of Leeds’ failure to return to the Premier League. Following the conclusion of the 2023–24 season, Everton’s director of football Kevin Thelwell has previously said that negotiations with the Elland Road administration will take place.
