Fernando Alonso makes a shocking statement on Aston Martin top-5 as he declared

Aston Martin has fallen outside the top five teams in Formula 1, Fernando Alonso has declared.

With the quickly improving Silverstone team last year, the reignited two-time champion earned a number of podium performances, which encouraged him to stay well into the new regulations era starting in 2026.

But in 2024, things are not going as planned, and as a result, 42-year-old Alonso finished out of the points over the weekend in Monaco.

He told Spanish press, “I thought I was tenth” throughout the last fifty laps. They informed me that I was ninth as I crossed the line, and I exclaimed, “All that stress for nothing!” Alonso grinned.

It didn’t matter though; it kept me up.

A week prior, the former Ferrari and McLaren driver saw even harsher conditions in Imola, when, following a terrifying weekend, he was deemed the last person standing.

For the team, Alonso stated that these two races in Imola and Monaco have been a major wake-up call. However, they will be extremely beneficial to us.

“These past two weekends have been essential in helping us see our shortcomings, comprehend the vehicle, and make improvements. You always learn more from challenges than from victories, when the joy overcomes all the issues.

He continued, “We are learning a lot for the remainder of the year, for 2025, for 2026.”

Alonso acknowledges that Aston Martin has significantly regressed, at least as compared to the previous season.

He stated, “Last season, we came in second here in Monaco, and we also had good pace in Canada. This year, we’re experiencing fresh feelings and doubts as a result of our slow progress.

“We need to try to reverse this tendency right away, but it will take a few races before we make a big advancement. We must remain unified because better and worse days are ahead.

However, based on the results, we are no longer among the top five. However, Alonso said, addressing his team leader Mike (Krack), it is more of a question for him.
