The Charles Schwab Challenge final round on Sunday was almost postponed by the PGA Tour, but his parents insisted on playing the tournament as planned since they knew their son would have preferred it.

Born and bred in Raleigh, North Carolina, Murray played golf at Wake Forest, East Carolina, and Arizona State before going pro. He played golf at Jupiter’s Dye Preserve Golf Club. He participated in the May 16–19 PGA Championship in Louisville, Kentucky, along with eight other club members. At Valhalla, he tied for 43rd place.

The golf world was shocked and saddened to learn of his passing.

Commissioner Jay Monahan of the PGA Tour said, “I am at a loss for words.” “The PGA Tour is a family, and you are never the same after losing a family member.” We pray for Grayson’s loved ones’ comfort as we grieve him.

Murray criticized the PGA Tour on social media in 2021, claiming he hadn’t received enough help during his struggles with alcoholism and mental health issues. Murray noted in his essay that he never once received a response to a request from the commissioner or the Player Advisory Council, but he did not attribute his problems to the tour.

Monahan stated on Saturday that following the post, he “right away” called Murray.
