Golf Star Rory McIlroy Shares Reason for Calling Off Divorce With Wife Erica

According to Florida court records, professional golfer Rory McIlroy has canceled his divorce from wife Erica Stoll McIlroy.

Thomas Julian Sasser, the divorce attorney for Rory McIlroy, submitted a notice of voluntary dismissal without prejudice in the divorce case on June 11, according to court papers filed with Palm Beach County. After that, the case was marked as “disposed.”
In an interview, he explained why the divorce had been called off.

“Unfortunately, there have been rumors lately regarding my personal life. It’s a fool’s game to reply to every rumor, Rory McIlroy told The Guardian.

“In the last few weeks, Erica and I have come to the realization that having a family together is our best future. Thankfully, we have worked things out and are excited about the future,” he stated.

According to Palm Beach County court documents, McIlroy filed for divorce from his wife Erica McIlroy in March.

Rory McIlroy was identified as the “plaintiff/petitioner” and Erica McIlroy as the “defendant/respondent” in the Palm Beach County divorce filings. The New York Post was able to receive the complete petition, which was submitted on May 13. The petition is titled “FOR DISSOLUTION OF MARRIAGE AND RELATED RELIEF (WITH MINOR CHILDREN…)” in the court entry. According to the documents, the couple wed in Ireland on April 21, 2017, and their union is “irretrievably broken.”

In a May 20 US Weekly piece, a friend of McIlroy’s estranged wife had earlier disclosed that the marriage had reached a “breaking point.”

Although the acquaintance remained anonymous, the source told Us that “one point of contention in Rory’s marriage with Erica was that Erica was lonely in their marriage.” “Marrying Rory was a difficult experience.”

The buddy told US that the couple’s marriage was altered by becoming parents. They have a three-year-old daughter named Poppy. According to the acquaintance who spoke with the magazine, McIlroy’s wife started to prioritize parenthood above accompanying him to tournaments.

The source told US, “She knew what she was getting into with his profession, but things really changed and she had a new perspective once they had Poppy.” “Erica was really focused on Poppy and was usually absent from most of his tournaments.”

The source also told US that the couple “were living very different lives the last two years with him being on the road, and eventually she had a breaking point.”

In the divorce petition that The New York Post published in its entirety, Rory McIlroy requested that a prenuptial agreement be upheld.

His representative had already told the Post that the golfer wanted the divorce to be amicable.

“The divorce has been filed, according to confirmation from Ryan McIlroy’s media team today. According to Sean O’Flaherty, Rory’s manager, “they emphasized Rory’s desire to ensure this trying time is as respectful and amicable as possible.”

Seven years ago, the pair tied the knot, according to a Times story.
