Indiana Fever GM Demands WNBA Change After Caitlin Clark Was …..

Following a June 1 game in which Chicago Sky player Chennedy Carter pushed down Indiana Fever player Caitlin Clark, general manager Lin Dunn is criticizing the WNBA and seeking reform.

“Targeting activities that aren’t necessary and a strong defense are two different things! It must end! The league must “clean up” the filth! This league is NOT who that is! On June 1, Dunn posted on her X page.

Dunn posted a video of Christie Sides, the coach of the Fever, talking about the hard foul and lauding Clark. On social media, the incident’s video became viral. The game was narrowly won by the Fever.

“We’re just going to keep sending these possessions to the league and these plays, and hopefully they’ll start, you know, taking a better look at some of the things that we see happening or that we think is happening,” Fever Coach Christie Sides responded when asked what more could be done to safeguard Clark in the post-game video. Just more content with Caitlin’s approach to handling things.

“You know, it’s hard to keep getting hammered the way she is and not get rewarded with free throws or just a foul called,” Sides continued. She has persisted in overcoming that. Thank you for that from her. Extremely happy that she accomplished that.

At a news conference held after the game, Carter declined to comment on the Clark incident, even though she denied speaking with Clark. Before hitting Clark, Carter allegedly yelled obscenities at her, according to Barstool Sports and other websites. Carter did, however, later like X’s posts making fun of Clark

Play-by-play commentator Pat Boylan of the Indiana Fever also posted on X, stating, “I rarely come here to talk officiating, but this is the type of thing Clark has faced a lot in the early going, albeit not this blatant.” Dunn also reposted this post. Nothing about this is “basketball play,” yet it satisfies many flagrancy requirements.

“Here’s an extended look at the Caitlin Clark – Chennedy Carter incident, there was more to it than the shoulder check and Clark was clearly talking to her on the way back up the floor from the prior basket by Indiana,” the original poster claimed that Carter initiated the video, which Carter found amusing.

Angel Reese, Carter’s colleague, has also come under fire on social media for endorsing Carter’s behavior against Clark.

As per CBS Sports, Carter was given a “away from the play foul” by the referees instead of a “flagrant or technical” violation.

Clark reportedly remarked, “Yeah, I wasn’t expecting that,” as reported by CBS Sports. But it’s as simple as responding, settling down, and letting your play speak for itself. That’s just the way things are. Since this is a physical game, shoot the free throw and then carry out your offensive play. Feel as though we accomplished that.

Clark voiced his concerns on the physical nature of the game in an interview published in the Indianapolis Star on May 29. He said, “I think everybody is physical with me, they get away with things that probably other people don’t get away with.” Yes, it’s difficult, but that’s the reality. Since this is professional basketball, you will experience pressure during this intensely physical game. Sincerely, it is what it is.
