Reports: Roberto De Zerbi makes a huge demand as agreement in principle reach with Marseille

According to sources on Friday morning, former Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi is apparently in the process of finalizing the finer aspects of his contract after reaching an agreement in principle to take over as head coach of Olympique de Marseille, a Ligue 1 team.

Marseille and the former Brighton player are reportedly in the final stages of finalizing a “informal” contract agreement before an official one is made, according to James Horncastle and The Athletic.

According to recent sources from Italy, the French team is willing to provide a three-year contract.

De Zerbi had previously stated that he hoped to find a new club before the 2024–25 season began. He resigned his post at Brighton by mutual consent at the end of the 2023–24 season.

Tony Bloom, the chairman and owner of the Seagulls, and he apparently disagreed on transfer policy, which led to his departure from Brighton.

De Zerbi departed Brighton without pay, and the Premier League team is also entitled to reimbursements in the event that the coach takes a job offer right away.

According to a recent report from Calciomercato.com, Marseille is willing to pay Brighton €6 million to get De Zerbi.
