According to Tiger Woods, he’may or may not’ have made his last appearance in the renowned US Open in 2024.
The three-time major championship winner, who is a golf icon, had a difficult match earlier this week at Pinehurst No. 2, characterizing it as a “war of attrition.”
Even though Woods got off to a great start with a birdie on the opening hole, by the end of Thursday play, he had a dismal four-over 74.
Despite his best efforts, Woods was unable to make crucial putts on Friday, including one that cruelly lipped out on the fifteenth hole. He shot 73 in the end, seven over par, missing the cut and ending any chance of a rally, according to reports.
With his final US Open triumph coming in 2008 at Torrey Pines, Woods’s future in the competition was unclear. He told the reporters how frustrated he was. “It’s one of those things where in order to win a golf tournament, you have to make the cut,” Woods stated.
It is disappointing that I am unable to win the event from my current position. I felt that my play was good enough to be competitive. It just wasn’t meant to be.”
“I don’t know what that is, as far as my last Open Championship or U.S. Open Championship,” he continued. It might or might not be.
Woods, who has confirmed his participation in the Open Championship at Royal Troon, believes that his performance at Pinehurst was the best he could have achieved. However, a missed birdie opportunity on the 15th hole proved costly for the golfing legend, leaving him with a challenging task to make it through to the weekend.
