Breaking: Crucial Mavericks starter P.J. Washington making massive change to make Dallas…..

As the 2024 NBA Draft gets underway, NBA teams are utilizing various strategies to bolster their rosters ahead of the second round. Choosing the best player available, advancing in the draft, and swapping veteran players for salary dumps are a few suggestions.

The Dallas Mavericks are considering their choices with the 58th pick, just like every other team. A possibility is to move up in the draft to get players such as Jalen Bridges, Boogie Ellis, or Jamal Shead.

Tim Hardaway Jr. is one guy the Mavs might select in the draft. The franchise is reportedly attempting to move Hardaway Jr. in order to free up salary cap money. Hardaway Jr.’s minutes per game significantly decreased as a result of his frustration at seeing his role reduce throughout the playoffs. In the regular season, he played 26.8 minutes per game on average; however, in the playoffs, he played 12.7 minutes.

“Retooling” his jumpshot, P.J. Washington makes the Mavericks unbeatable
But the greatest lift can come from within the company. In an episode of “Take Dat Wit You,” Mark Followill and Brian Dameris talked about how crucial it is for P.J. Washington to participate in a full training camp with the Mavericks.

They went on to discuss how he can become a fixture in the Mavs’ offense and focus on honing his jump shot.

“I don’t think the organization liked what he was shooting when he came here, so he completely retooled his shot to increase his 3-point average. He will be transparent and receive open looks, as we saw in the Oklahoma City series. I believe that he will benefit from more structure and time to study rather than having to pick things up quickly.

– Brian Dameris
The Mavericks could be right about something. With Dallas during the regular season, Washington shot 31.4 percent. During the playoffs, he shot 34.8 percent from long range, which caused his numbers to soar. Brian stated that he made 46.9 percent of his 3-point shots during the OKC series, which was when he had his best performance.

This is a huge step up from his Dallas months. With the club shooting 28.7 percent from downtown, Washington had a difficult first full month. In April, he made 37.5 percent of his 3-pointers, which was a positive move.

For the team, Washington’s enhanced and “retooled” shot would be invaluable. In terms of 3-point percentage, the Mavs were 14th last season. Two of their players made more than 40% of their shots from downtown.

His improved shooting would be especially significant because the squad is in need of a 3-and-D wing player. Washington is an excellent defender who can make things difficult for his opponents, as he has already demonstrated. Should he enhance his three-point shooting, he would be the ideal applicant for the position.

If Washington could become a knockdown shooter, he and the Mavs would be unstoppable.

Stay tuned as we’ll keep you updated on P.J. Washington and the Dallas Mavericks this summer.
