Seattle Seahawks makes a surprised landing spot for the speedy wide receiver

The Seahawks have talent at wide receiver, but at the moment DK Metcalf is the only deep threat defenses need to respect.

The Seattle Seahawks broke the summer doldrums of the offseason on Monday by making a series of roster moves. This provided supporters with a topic of discussion that was more akin to actual football while they awaited the start of training camp.

The team’s actions were unremarkable, as they waived three undrafted free agents and signed a former undrafted free agent running back who had most recently competed in the UFL. Nevertheless, the outcome of these transactions is that Seattle is left with two vacant roster positions, with about three weeks remaining until the freshmen report to training camp in the middle of July.

Given this, and the most recent 53-man roster projection from Field Gulls’ Managing Editor Mookie Alexander, the team has a significant gap at wide receiver that could be addressed between now and training camp. That is not to suggest that the Seahawks lack aptitude at the position; they certainly do. Nevertheless, in a wide receiver corps, there are specific roles that complement one another, and the ‘Hawks are currently lacking a rapid deep threat.
