Due to a broken left hand, Los Angeles Dodgers player Mookie Betts was placed on the injured list on Monday for the first time this season.

Before Monday night’s game against Colorado, manager Dave Roberts informed media that the 2018 AL MVP would likely miss six to eight weeks of work.

 

In the seventh inning of Sunday’s 3-0 victory over the Kansas City Royals, reliever Dan Altavilla hit the 31-year-old shortstop with a fastball that clocked in at 97.9 mph.

 

The seven-time All-Star, Josh Betts, is hitting.304 in 72 games with 10 home runs and 40 RBIs.

 

Miguel Vargas was called up by the Dodgers for his second stint of the season. In eight games, he had a.250 average, three doubles, one home run, and four RBIs. With Triple-A Oklahoma City, Vargas was hitting.290 with eight home runs and 38 RBIs in 41 games.
